For
more than 20 years Robert has had a successful track record for
excellence in the Visual and Event Industries. The study of Graphic
Design and Advertising at the School
of Visual Arts in New York City led him to choose a career in the
Visual Industry. Upon completion, he began his career at Macy’s
New York Herald Square, where he enjoyed creating a number of
eye-catching, jaw-dropping window displays. His unique style and flair
eventually caught the attention of the Regional Vice President of the Nordstrom Sales Promotion department that included Special Events.
Upon his acceptance of employment there his career skyrocketed as a
result of his desire to do the best and be the best. It became apparent
that he was truly dedicated to excellence. After a few years at their
Menlo Park, New Jersey location, Nordstrom
relocated him to Santa Barbara, California.
While
there, he won several awards including an international award for Visual
Display. Also, during his tenure there, he helped create logos and
trademarks for the Santa Barbara
Symphony and The Caribbean
Coffee Company’s new product “Hair-Raiser”.
His penchant for organizing led him to pursue a new avenue of
expression, event planning. Because his record spoke for itself, he was
once again transplanted. This time to Los Angeles, as he was now in
charge of the Event Planning and Visual departments for Nordstrom
there.
He
caught the attention of yet another person of influence. At an event
that was coordinated and executed by him and his team for Donna Karan
and Magic Johnson, he met the president and CEO of The Magic
Johnson Foundation Kawanna Myers-Brown who introduced him to Burt
and Marianne Nelson of Special
Occasions, Inc. of Beverly Hills. Because of the instant chemistry
that they all shared, he was offered employment with their very
exclusive event planning company. The company’s client list read like
a Who’s Who in Hollywood as
well as several Fortune 500 companies. He also had the distinct
honor of working on many projects with the world renowned wedding
producer Diann Valentine.
From events of only six to six thousand,
he treated each client as if they and their event were the only ones
that mattered. From movie premieres to fund-raisers to Bar/Bat Mitzvahs
to Fashion shows to celebrity weddings, Robert E. Hansen and his
Dressed
in Black Event Productions team
will continue to provide top-notched
unequaled service.
